When a friend decides to make some innovative whole wheat, apple, almond and cranberry pancakes for a little one's school dabba , and the little one herself helps mix the batter , the resulting pancakes simply have to turn out golden !
A their golden soliloquy needs to be heard.
बहुविध उपक्रमात गुंतलेली कणिक ,
आज पालक शिक्षक सभेला जायच्या तयारीत; आणि सकाळ पासून येणार्या बदाम, सफरचंद मंडळींच्या ट्वीट व एसएमएसनी हैराण. "छोटीची शाळा आम्हाला पण बघायची आहे, क्रान्बेरीताई पण अमेरिकेहून आल्या आहेत " कुणा एका आईने डोलाव्लेली मान , वाफेत हर्षभराने ने स्वतःचा सॉस करून धन्य झालेले सफरचंद, उत्साहाने अगदी वेडे होउन बारीक कापात त्यात पडणारे बदाम , आणि "ये ग क्रान्बेरी, तू ही चल ", म्हणत सगळ्याना गोळा करून, थोडे वनिला व दालचिनी चे अत्तर लाउन तयार झालेली, कळत नकळत सोडा शिंपडून शेवटी तव्यावर तयार झालेली छोटी छोटी धिरडी . मग एका छोट्या डब्यात छोट्या दप्तरात शिस्तीत बसणं , शाळेत जाणं , आणि मधल्या सुट्टीत एका छोटीच्या चेहऱ्यावरचे भाव बघत हरखून जाणं… कणिक शाळेत गेली , त्याची पहिली गोष्ट …. |
Ma wheat busy in her multifarious activities, getting ready for the PTA meeting, and really bombarded with sms's and tweets from the almond, apple types; "Guess what ! Cranberry Tai is here from the US and We're dying to see the little one's school".... A nod from an indulgent Mom, and the apple saucing itself steaming in the heat of the excitement, as the almonds simply sliver and fall in, pulling Cranberry Tai with them, and Ma Wheat dabs a bit of vanilla cinnamom perfume, sprinkles a bit of effervescent soda and falls across a griddle turning golden in pancake style. A bit of delicious gold, in a little tiffin box in a little school bag, and then grinning foolishly looking at the joy on the face of a little girl eating in the recess....
